As part of a contemporary art fair at Daimaru Kyoto store, titled "ART@DAIMARU," we have designed "third place," creating spaces to be occupied by not only selling art pieces but also by furniture and inhabitable spaces for people to be relaxed. Mirrored patterns emerging from the designed fixture connects this contemporary space to the original Daimaru Kyoto store designed by W. M. Vories, referring the octagram pattern and others in his decorations. The fixture is supposed to be reused in different locations at the store.
2021年５月に大丸京都店で行われた「ART＠DAIMARU」の一環で、7階催会場での現代アートフェアの中に、作品に加えて家具、什器、カーペットを設えることで、空間・体験に「余白」や「ゆとり」を生み出す居場所（サードプレイスと名付けられた）を計画した。 もともとW.M.ヴォーリズが設計した京都店の建物へのリンクとして、彼が多用し、今も地下への階段などに残っている「八芒星」の文様などが、製作什器を鏡と隣り合わせることで映し出されるよう天面の形・配置を決めている。（これらは3日間の会期後に同店の異なる売場に移され、常設で引き続き使われる想定。）建物へのつながりともに、設計した床・壁・什器も、キュレートされた家具・アートも、形や色、素材や像などで少しずつリンクしていくことで、空間・時間的な広がりができないかと想像しながら設計を進めた。
