Asked to renovate a professor room in a university, but the budget was too low to renew entire finish. So I designed four pieces of furniture from five plywood sheets, which I can construct by my friend and me (That was also because of low budget.)
Parts were pre-cut in a factory, and my friend and I made them in one day. I made renewed atmosphere with united design taste of four pieces. In addition to the original form that is possible in this room situation, I cared for basic things such as proportion, appropriate size of parts, and simple details. As accent color, I chose dark green paint. It's because the professor's major is the education. It is the color of blackboard.
超低予算で大学内の研究室１室の改修を依頼され、内装によってではなく、４つの可動・固定家具を５枚の合板から切り出して製作し、部屋の雰囲気を刷新した。むき出しとなっていた水回りと冷蔵庫を背の低い棚・扉でカバーして部屋の雰囲気を整え、デスクの後ろには既存の立ち上がり配管などを取り込んだ本棚を窓の下に設えた。コートハンガーは既存の長押に固定され、隣の既製スチール棚と深さを揃えるデザインとした。金属パーツはホームセンターで入手して事前加工を施し、合板は現地近くの木工場でプレカットしたものを自前で運搬して、１日の日当で大工によって現場組み立てされた。１日で組み立てられる単純なディテールとしながら、そのディテールの程度とカラースキーム(教育学部の研究室にちなんで黒板色の部分塗装)を一貫させて部屋全体のトーンとして特徴付けられるよう心がけた。
