An interior design of a nail salon built in rural suburb. The existing space is deep but open only to south side, so I proposed semitransparent wall composition plan by polycarbonate corrugate plates. For lightness and elegance, it was important to make this wall without frame in halfway, so I combined corrugate plate in different directions so that it can be strong enough to stand with less support.
This cheap material is usually used for a roof of carport or something, but by new way of using this mass-products, people's perceptions towards rural suburban scape will be updated, as well as realizing brilliant space suitable for a nail salon.
地方郊外に計画したネイルサロンのインテリアデザイン。南側のみに小さな開口のある南北に奥深いテナントスペースであったため、光が奥まで拡散し届くように、白基調の内装および半透明のスクリーン / 建具でスペースを区切る計画とした。スクリーンにはポリカーボネートの波板を採用し、２方向に重ねて面強度を上げ、中桟を無くして半透明の大きな面をつくり、通常とは異なる存在感とネイルサロンに似つかわしい細かい反射光・透過光・拡散光を実現させた。カーポートや温室、農作業小屋などに通常用いられる地方都市郊外のありふれた材料を異なる形で用いることで、インテリアの計画にとどまらず、この場所を訪れることで周辺の街に対する認識が少しだけ更新されるようなつくり方を目指した。
